Abstract
Develops a new organic chloramine selective analytical method. Quantifies organic chloramine yields upon exposure of biofilms to free chlorine or monochloramine and quantifies the biocidal efficacy of organic chloramines. Assesses formation, fate, and efficacy of organic chloramines and influence on nitrification in laboratory pipe loops simulating water distribution systems. Also quantifies the formation of organic chloramines in the field during nitrification events and develops recommendations for monitoring organic chloramines and strategies to minimize the onset of nitrification.
