Abstract

This project improves the industry's understanding of the nature and extent of problems associated with manganese that has and continues to accumulate in water systems. The project identified effective and cost-feasible strategies to remove legacy manganese. A utility self-assessment framework was developed that estimates the risk of manganese accumulation, the range of costs associated with manganese accumulation, and possible mitigation measures.
