Abstract
Characterizes watershed-based effluent trading scenarios, with an emphasis on evaluation of effects on source water quality. Also evaluates both the positive and negative aspects of trading. Reports on five case studies. Research partner: WERF. In 2000, WERF published four case studies, two of which may be of interest to water utilities: Nitrogen Credit Trading in the Long Island Sound Watershed (97-IRM-5B) and Phosphorus Credit Trading in the Kalamazoo River Basins: Forging Nontraditional Partnerships (97-IRM-5C).
