Abstract

Develops fundamental knowledge about the preparation of carbonaceous sorbents (i.e., activated carbons or carbon fibers) selective for dissolved organic matter (DOM) removal. Improves understanding of how activated carbon pore structure and surface chemistry influence adsorption of DOM from natural waters. Also determines optimum carbon preparation conditions that will maximize the removal of DOM. Published in 2007.
