Abstract
This project aims to evaluate innovative treatment technologies to identify pathways for the sustainable management of biosolids. The overarching objective of this study is to guide utilities as biosolids management is becoming increasingly difficult due to recent concerns on emerging contaminants (PFAS, microplastics, pharmaceuticals, etc.), rising costs, greenhouse gas emissions (GHGe) and pressure from end users. The goal is to look at innovative technologies from a circular perspective by considering potential end products, market conditions, and market maturity.
