Case Studies on Water Sector Interdependencies

Infrastructure networks, such as those for water, energy, and transportation, provide key services to communities. There are strong interdependencies between these sectors and their infrastructure; however, these systems have largely been developed and managed separately. Understanding infrastructure interdependencies, and the opportunities and risks they entail, is imperative to identifying and classifying critical infrastructure, developing emergency preparedness and response plans, and addressing other potential security challenges. This project provides resources for small and medium sized utilities by developing case studies on existing utility practices for determining interdependencies, along with guidance on management of cross-sector interdependencies.
