Abstract

The objective of this report was to provide a comprehensive overview of the implementation of compensatory mitigation for the effects of impingement and entrainment (IM&E) that are due to the operation of desalination plant intakes in coastal and estuarine waters. Through the process of reviewing previous IM&E compensatory mitigation programs and considering the wider body of knowledge on compensatory mitigation programs, this report identifies generic guidelines that can be applied to an IM&E compensatory mitigation program for future desalination plant projects. Published in 2016.
