Evaluation of Best Management Practices (BMP) for Sustainable Groundwater Protection at Biosolids Land Application Sites
Abstract
This report can assist wastewater utilities, environmental regulators, and other stakeholders evaluate the effectiveness of biosolids land application best management practices (BMPs) to mitigate the potential risk of groundwater contamination at biosolids land application sites. The report describes the groundwater protection BMPs currently implemented and highlights the role of environmental factors and biosolids beneficial use operational practices that can impact groundwater quality. Includes a description of EPA's Multimedia, Multi-pathway, Multi-receptor Exposure and Risk Assessment (3MRA) technology as a computational framework for development of a groundwater protection BMP risk characterization screening tool (RCST). An electronic copy of the RCST software and instruction manual are included. Published by WERF. 86 pages. Soft cover, CD Rom, and online PDF. (2010)
