Abstract

This project will significantly advance our understanding and management of CECs and improve capabilities with respect to managing CECs. The objectives of this research are to:

1. comprehensively evaluate various treatment strategies for constituents of emerging concern (CECs), including source control, monitoring, and remediation methods

2. facilitate the formation of a multi-sector stakeholder group and conduct a strategy selection workshop to enhance the selection of specific management strategies for CECs

3. demonstrate and validate a practical stakeholder-driven framework for CECs management

4. provide benefit/cost guidance to utilities in selecting the most suitable, effective, and cost-efficient strategies for addressing CECs.

This research aims to fill research gaps in the One Water Framework by advancing analytical techniques, improving CEC characterization and predictive modeling, and assessing health impacts linked to CEC exposure.
