Abstract
This project will demonstrate the promising application of algae for phosphorus control at a lower cost than conventional biological phosphorus removal and which offers pathways for energy and resource recovery. Algal technologies hold the potential to support energy neutrality through biofuels production. The results will provide significant benefits for the water industry, and in particular, utilities in states like Florida with high phosphorus loading due to agricultural adjacency. This project is funded through the U.S. Department of Energy.
