An Operational Definition of Biostability for Drinking Water
Abstract
This project developed a practical operational definition of biologically stable drinking water and guidance for water professionals on how to optimize treatment prior to water distribution to produce biologically stable water that will not promote the growth of pathogens. The final deliverables are a guidance document (4312a), an Excel-based tool (available under Project Resources/Web Tools), and a report (4312b) that summarizes literature review and case study findings, and discusses operational parameters, operational practices, targets, and analytical tools that should be used in the production and maintenance of biologically stable water.
