Abstract

More than 100 people attended the Secondary Clarifier Assessment Workshop sponsored by the Water Environment Research Foundation, the results of which are presented in this report. The workshop included independent critiques of each of the following: 1) determinants of settling behavior and secondary settling tank evaluation methods; 2) practical design considerations; 3) measurement methods for sludge settleability and conventional design procedures; 4) dynamic modeling; 5) circular secondary settling tanks; and 6) rectangular settling tanks. After the presentation, the workshop participants discussed proceedings and identified research needs. Published by WERF. 28 pages.
