Producing Class A Biosolids With Low-Cost, Low-Technology Treatment Processes
Abstract
Many facilities product class A biosolids using low-cost, low-technology biosolids treatment processes including lagoon storage, air drying, and cake storage. This project reviewed the available literature and municipal agency data about these processes. The report presents design and operating guidelines distilled from the review process for wastewater treatment plant managers, operators, and engineers wishing to discern whether these processes might be practically applied at specific plants. The report also describes the regulatory environment which exists in the United States for producing Class A biosolids and provides a list of recommended research needs. Published by WERF. 84 pages.
