Abstract

Evaluates the potential downstream benefits resulting from coagulant dose reductions as a consequence of MIEX pre-treatment. Examines the impact of MIEX, coagulant, and MIEX plus coagulant operating conditions on the magnitude of DBP precursor removal, and the characteristics of the precursor material removed and remaining in treated water. Studies the potential direct and indirect impact of MIEX pre-treatment on corrosion control characteristics of treated water. Examines the impact of MIEX regeneration with sodium bicarbonate instead of sodium chloride in order to provide similar MIEX performance while improving handling and disposal opportunities for IX regeneration residuals.
