Abstract

Conventional wastewater treatment plants do not effectively remove all pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs). As a result, some PPCPs enter the environment via treated wastewater discharge. Enzymatic treatment using the laccase-mediator system is a novel biochemical process that has been shown to effectively treat some PPCPs. This research studied two enzymatic treatment configurations. Co-sponsored by U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

Originally funded as WERF project Reuse-10-16.
