Abstract

Provides written and oral message statements that can be used by utilities and elected officials to communicate with the public following disasters, as well as during disaster warning alerts. Also includes an action plan for working with the public to increase public awareness of potential public health risks, and appropriate responses. The Emergency Communication Information Management System (eCIMs) software component includes an emergency risk communications planning guide and sample messages for likely scenarios. Published by WERF in 2008.

As of February 2020, the eCIMS tool is no longer available.

This study was originally funded in cooperation with WERF as project 03-CTS-5SCO and was managed by Lola Olabode and Frank Blaha.
