Desal Dialog: A Regulatory Workshop on Critical Issues of Desalination Permitting

A workshop was conducted in early 2012 among key desalination stakeholders, including utilities, regulators, and associations to facilitate a common understanding of desalination permitting issues and identify areas of common ground and agreement. Fifty-four participants representing thirteen states and four countries met to discuss desalination permitting issues related to source water, treated (product) water, concentrate management, and membrane technology performance and reliability. Twelve technical white papers were produced to support the workshop discussions. Partners included U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and WateReuse Research Foundation (WRRF). WRRF published the workshop report 10-03 in 2013.
