Abstract
In order to manage levels of nitrosamines in drinking water, utilities practicing or considering implementation of biofiltration need to understand which conditions promote or mitigate nitrosamine formation. This research project combined bench-scale and pilot-scale column experiments with full-scale sampling across a range of utilities practicing biofiltration to develop a mechanistic understanding of how biofiltration affects NDMA formation (both increases and decreases).
