Abstract
This study investigated the bioavailability and characteristics of various phosphorus fractions, particularly dissolved organic phosphorus fraction, from effluents in advanced tertiary treatment processes targeting for extremely low effluent TP concentrations. tT achieve that objective, tertiary effluents from three representative full-scale wastewater treatment plants, with five different treatment technologies/processes, were collected and subjected to a detailed and comprehensive analysis for wastewater characterization, phosphorus fractions analysis, and bioavailability assays.
