Abstract
Water reuse and desalination offer reliable and locally controlled yields when drought, climate change, or other factors limit other water supply options. However, the absence of suitable customer valuation data has made these reliability benefits difficult to quantify, which impedes the implementation of reuse and desalination. This lack of data can also make it more challenging to secure state, federal, or other funding for these water supply projects. This research addresses this critical gap by developing estimates of the economic value of drought-resistant water yield reliability, such as that associated with reuse and desalination projects.
