Abstract

The project assessed the current workforce demographics for the water and wastewater industry, identified future shortfalls in critical and technical skills, and provided guidance for creating a succession strategy and plan. It also provides guidance for the following:

  1. identifying gaps in current and future workload and workforce
  2. implementing a workforce planning model
  3. documenting vital tacit knowledge owned by senior employees
  4. upgrading training programs

Published in 2005. This study was a originally funded in cooperation with WERF as project 02-CTS-7CO and was managed by Dr. Amit Pramanik.
