Development of a Community-Based Lead Risk and Mitigation Model
Abstract
This project advances the science of lead (Pb) exposure risk assessment and mitigation, and translates this into practices that limit Pb exposure for drinking water consumers. A risk-based computational model was developed, built on an enhanced and comprehensive national dataset. In addition, this project identifies opportunities to mitigate Pb exposure in drinking water, advances the understanding of water lead levels and blood lead levels, and creates a communication framework to educate stakeholders on risk mitigation opportunities. These work products help identify at-risk locations and provides guidance for communities and residents to reduce exposure to Pb through specific interventions.
