Doing More with Less Using Open-Source Code: Mapping Water Challenges for Water Reuse Potential
This webcast focused on one example of leveraging existing resources, such as R, to create tools that enable utilities and water professionals to do more with less. Through stakeholder and user engagement in the water sector, a team of Data Science Fellows presented their approach to developing an open-source R package (“GeoNdXR”) that helps users both create indices for large amounts of data and visualize it for broader audiences, with built-in capabilities for re-calculating the index in real-time based on preferences selected by the individual engaging with the index.
The webcast focused on the tool development process, feedback from stakeholders in the water sector, and a case study from a WRF project 5197, Unlocking the Nationwide Potential for Water Reuse. Speakers will provide data-minded individuals working for water utilities with a set of free software tools they can use to help narrow the data gap between themselves and other industries.
