WRF Seeks Proposals for 12 New Research Projects Totaling $3.1M
The Water Research Foundation (WRF) is now accepting proposals for 12 research projects that will advance the science of water for communities around the world. This fall’s Requests for Proposals (RFPs) will be released in two rounds, with the second round coming in late September.
Taking a One Water approach, WRF’s new research projects focus on microplastic collection and analysis, energy efficiency, pipeline infrastructure, integrated water resource management, corrosion control treatment, smart sewer systems, climate change, and more:
- Method Refinement and Standardization for Microplastics Sample Collection and Analysis (5287)
- Tradeoffs Between Process Optimization, Greenhouse Gas Mitigation, and Energy Efficiency (5288)
- Pipeline Infrastructure Replacement Costs Guide (5292)
- Balancing Human and Natural Assets in a One-Water, Integrated Water Resource Management Framework (5295)
- Implementing a Smart Sewer System to Optimize Capacity to Reduce Surface Flooding and Sewer Overflows (5297)
- Benchmarking Microbial and Chemical Contamination in Source Water Using Hyperspectral Microscopy (5298)
- Assessment of Corrosion Control Treatment (CCT) Pipe Rig Study Data Compared to Distribution System Lead Levels (5299)
- Integrating Requirements, Drivers, and Technologies for Enhanced Distribution System Water Quality Monitoring (5301)
- Understanding the Practices, Policies, and Impacts of System Development Fees and Upgrade Requirements (5302)
- Operationalizing the Benefits of Nature-based Solutions to Inform Decisions in a Changing Climate (5305)
- Assessing Changing Salinity in Water Sources (5308)
- Head-to-Head GHG Measurement Comparisons: Evaluating Plant-wide and Process-specific Quantification Methods (5310)
Selected through the WRF Research Priority Program, these projects will address high-priority topics for the water sector. They were chosen by WRF’s Research Advisory Council, which reviews stakeholder perspectives on challenges and opportunities facing the water sector and approves the annual research agenda.
Entities eligible to apply for funding include, but are not limited to, academic institutions, research organizations, utilities, government agencies, and consulting firms. Proposals must follow WRF’s Guidelines for Research Priority Program Proposals.
If you have any questions about these projects, please contact the Research Program Manager listed in the individual RFP.
