Secondary research for this project focused on identifying new and changing water sector trends that would have implications for water utilities over the next 10 to 20 years. The research looked at issues that would impact utilities over the long term and, where possible, global trends were addressed.
There are four broad trend categories that are further divided into topics that relate to the key trends:

Environmental

Technological

Economic/Business
-
Societal/Political
In each category, a white paper was developed for review by utility participants and research partners who were asked to identify additional potential water sector implications for each trend. Each white paper category is summarized in the beginning of this document and subsequent chapters include the white paper manuscripts.
