Abstract
This scoping study explored whether the materials commonly found in distribution system components can corrode at a sufficiently high rate to supply the amount of chromium required to raise the chromium content of water at the point of use to a level that exceeds regulatory thresholds. The final report provides not only a fundamental understanding of corrosion as a source of chromium in the distribution system, but a straightforward assessment of the need for further inquiry into the subject.
