Abstract

This study identifies factors that affect whether engineers equitably consider decentralized wastewater treatment options. The barriers are prioritized to determine which ones were the most influential and solvable, and then strategies and actions are identified which engineers in different areas of environmental and wastewater-related fields can use to solve the most influential barriers. The report focuses on engineers and what they can do to ensure that all wastewater treatment solutions are considered equitably and where fair decisions are made for clients and communities.
