Abstract

In 2015, WRF approved a new Focus Area, Emerging Waterborne Pathogens in Distribution Systems and Premise Plumbing. The project provided a comprehensive research agenda for the focus area by examining the following topics:

  1. Emerging Pathogens in Distribution Systems and Premise Plumbing
  2. Factors Governing the Proliferation of the Targeted Pathogens
  3. Best Practices for Risk Management
  4. Effective Communication Strategies
  5. Biostability Principles for Control of Emerging Pathogens

Information on research needs was gathered through a literature review, social media outreach, and a series of five webinars.

The project team synthesized this information into a five-year roadmap of high-priority projects. The finalized research roadmap and project descriptions are compiled in a final report, which is posted below under Project Papers.
