Quantitative Structure Activity Relationships to Predict Removal of EDCs/PPCPs
Abstract
This project evaluated the feasibility of using Quantitative Structure Activity Relationships (QSARs) for process models to predict the behavior of emerging contaminants during various conventional and advanced drinking water treatment processes. It provides the details and the rationale used in the development of the models and includes guidance to utilities on how to predict the removal of emerging contaminants. A white paper, Quantitative Structure Activity Relationships (QSAR): Best Practice Guidelines for Utilities, was also developed and is posted under Project Papers. In addition, a web-based tool has been developed to allow easy, public access to the best QSAR models developed for adsorption, oxidation, and membrane processes. The tool is available at http://reccr.chem.rpi.edu/WaterRF2. Published in 2018.
