Abstract

Several epidemiologic studies have reported on turbidity as a predictor of acute GI illness and have found positive results. However, there are issues that need to be closely examined to weigh the overall evidence in the collective research, including modeling strategies, exposure and illness measurement, and confounding. This project conducted a comprehensive examination and evaluation of the methods used in these studies, and synthesized the overall evidence that can be derived from the collective results.
